Phantasm
By Devious Theatre
23 August at 20:00 until 25 August at 23:00
Drugs. Porn. STD’s. Foxes. And all the empty spaces in between. Phantasm is a comedy about new perspectives.
It charts the relationship between a teenage weed dealer and his favourite customer over one particularly stormy night. It has a bit of romance, a bit of comedy and a 50 bag of AK-47. Most of all, it’s a snapshot of young people in a situation we can empathise with: being on the verge of moving forward while threatening to fall backwards.
Devious Theatre have been making alternative theatre for young audiences since 2006. We don’t repeat ourselves much. Our last production in Kilkenny was Night Of The Living Dead. In 2011, we undertook the first theatre artists residency in Kilkenny Arts Office with our In The Future When All’s Well trilogy of plays.
John Kennedy previously wrote Shifting for us which was performed in April 2011 as part of In The Future When All’s Well in Kilkenny Arts Office. Phantasm debuted at Solstice as part of Cork Midsummer Festival on June 28th 2012. It last played the Abhainn Rí Festival in Callan. It had previously been performed as a rehearsed reading for Fishamble’s Young People’s Tiny Plays For Ireland at the Project Arts Centre, Dublin in March 2012. This marks its first performance in Kilkenny City.
We are very proud to present Phantasm as part of OUT For The Weekend.
